Not your Granny’s Chandelier!

Check out what Vancouver is doing under the Granville Street Bridge on March 22nd! Artist Rodney Graham will be installing an interactive, 4′ x 6′ faux-crystal 18th century candelabra.  Directly over Beach Avenue, the chandelier will drop rapidly from the underside of the bridge, coming to rest at a fixed midpoint between the bridge span and the road.  Then it will slowly spin upwards, back to the bridge deck above.

The candelabra is set to be the centrepiece of the Gesamtkunstwerk exhibit, including multiple other artworks set to transform the underside of the Granville Street Bridge.

Look for it towards the end of the March, and I challenge any of you to call us a “no-fun city” any longer!
